Project details
This project was as a result of an urgent request for telebetting
terminals. With the pending introduction of Action TV it occurred to
the people running our telebetting terminals that there would be surge
in telebetting activity when broadcasting started. The lead time for
production of more of our existing terminals was to long as they were
custom made. It was suggested by our division that new comms card being
developed for the new oncourse terminal (the MAX6000) could be fitted
to standard PCs and a MAX keyboard purchased from the MAX supplier. The
job then was to bring on-line a new terminal in a time frame measured
in weeks. By building on code for the TSC
project we managed to have the software complete and debugged about two
weeks after Action TV went to air and the Wellington telebetting centre
now runs completely with 70 PPCs.
